Are you on the Net?

     Often times when we go to the malls or even on your local neighborhood we see an Internet café with multiple set up of computers. You will see there some guys or gals concentrating on the screen (monitor of computer) and keeps on typing on the keyboard, some smiles, some serious looking, some have jaw-dropping expressions. What are they doing? They’re surfing the Internet! So, what’s the Internet? The Internet is a network of computer interconnected together containing data’s of information. It contains different topics as they have said anything under the sun.

  In the United States most of their companies are now already have their web presence. Here in the Philippines, are now beginning to have that kind of trend. You can now surf the Internet with your favorite pet shop, malls, restaurant, bookstore etc. I have a friend, which uses the Internet for his banking needs, and also some groceries. He even confides to me that he’s buying condom’s on the net and delivered at his doorstep.(loko talaga yon eh). Sometimes its becoming annoying when you see an advertisement on TV, brochures and banners with their URL (Uniform Resource Locator) www.yourcompany.com with their email address emphasizing the @ sign.

Filipino companies  now are responding to this kind of  trends, that’s why they are now scampering to make a web presence. Everyday a new website is being develop. The whole wide world is a very powerful in giving information. And to think that your audience is literally means the whole wide world. Meaning anybody can access your website, irregardless of location as long as you have a computer and a telephone line. The Internet Domain survey predicts that by the year 2005 practically all the people in this planet will have access to the net. This is a billion dollar industry.

As Filipino health provider we still have to tap this resources to give information to the peoples needs. So the question is “ Are you on the Net”.
