Click on the Image to enlarge The old acrylic crowns were removed revealing the broken down crown portion of 21. Further inspection suggested irreversible pulpitis at 21
Click on the Image to enlarge Root canal treatment was performed on tooth 21. The carious lesions were also treated accordingly and the failing old fillings were replaced with new direct composite restorations.
Click on the Image to enlarge After model cast was fabricated from silicone impression of the case, all the prepared teeth and adjacent surfaces were lightly coated with rubber separating medium. Composite resin crowns were fabricated. Anatomy was finished using long bullet shaped diamond burs.
Click on the Image to enlarge The contoured and finished composite were initially polished. Note the high polish composite which enhances the lifelike effects of the layering technique done to the composite restoration.
Click on the Image to enlarge The coposite crowns were tried into the prepared teeth to check on fit as well as to ascertain harmony to the shade and morphology of the restorations to the adjacent teeth.
Click on the Image to enlarge Tried-in crowns were then luted with resin cement onto prepared teeth which has been etched and applied with 2 coats of adhesive. When the resin cement has been partially cured it becomes easy to just flick off with an explorer making cleaning up fast and easy.
