SACRED HEART OF JESUS, THE CHAPEL.

1963   -The Sacred Heart of Jesus church in  Morning Breeze started as a chapel with the community then originally a part of Our Lady of Grace Parish. Every Sunday, Holy Mass was celebrated by the Oblate Fathers led by the late Bishop Antonino F. Nepomuceno, D.D., OMI. Oblate scholastics assisted the priests in their pastoral work in the community. Some of them were the late Bishop Antonino F. Nepomuceno, D.D., O.M.I., the late Bishop Benjamin de Jesus, D.D., O.M.I., and Archbishop Orlando Quevedo, D.D., O.M.I., of Cotabato.

In August 1963, His Eminence the late Rufino Cardinal Santos established the Parish of St. Peter and St. John. The community of Morning Breeze became a part of the new parish along with Bagong Barrio, a portion of Portrero within the east side of MacArthur Highway and Araneta University campus.

1964  - Still a part of the St. Peter and St. John Parish, the Sacred Heart Chapel was inaugurated by Rev. Msgr. Pedro N. Bantigue, Auxiliary Bishop of Manila, on December 13, 1964.

2001    - On August 1, 2001, Rev. Fr. Rufino “Gigi” P. Yabut assumed the administration of the Parish and his pastoral duties as incoming Parish Priest, replacing Fr. Caborrubias (1990-2001).

During the period from September to November 2001, Fr. Gigi initiated major repairs and renovation of the Church and Convent building and premises of the SHJ Parish which were visibly called for in the 12-year old facilities.

With generous help and encouragement from the Archdiocese, friends and benefactors from other parishes, and the ever-loyal SHJ parishioners, the SHJ Parish Church and its  premises have been enhanced in honor of its beloved Patron, the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. Completed are the major repairs and repainting of the Church and the renovation of the Sanctuary, the Adoration Chapel, and a new Parish Office for the Staff, Parish Priest’s Office and  Parish function rooms.

The enhancement of the Church will be on-going with the resumption of the (interrupted) construction of a Parish Center. As envisioned, a five-story edifice will house the Parish Office, Youth Center, and Multi-Purpose Hall. It will also include rooms for seminars, Parish convent, and a part-house for social gatherings.

On December 1, 2001, Rev. Fr. Rufino P. Yabut was formally installed as the 3rd Parish Priest of  the  Sacred  Heart of  Jesus  Parish by  His Excellency, Most Rev. Teodoro C. Bacani, Jr., D.D., District Bishop of Caloocan, Malabon and Navotas (CALMANA), at the Holy Eucharist Celebration at 8:00 a.m. The day also marked the Blessing of the Altar and the Adoration Chapel by His Excellency, Most Rev.
