Post Fiesta Reflections

Greeting! First of all, I would like to thank and congratulate each and everyone of our parishioners for the wonderful outcome of the fiesta celebration of the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus during the period May 29 to June 9, 2002.

Let us give a big hand to all who skillfully coordinated the preparatory activities - the Parish census campaign, the ready response to the call for the Family's consecration to, and the enthronement of, the Sacred Heart in every home in the Parish, and the commuity "Clean and Green Drive". bayanihan style, all of which happily culminated in the heart-warming overflow of attendance at the Novena and Fiesta Masses.

After we have given each other the pat on the back, let us thank God, above all for His gift of our beautiful and renovated SHJ Parish Church and a revitalized and renewed community. Let us reflect on the real gains of the past month, not so much in terms of the growth of our physical structures as in the enhancement of the family's spiritual life.

  • Unity. In the common desire to have a fiesta celebration worthy of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, there developed a closeness and unity among the parishioners who realized and came tp appreciate the importance of wholehearted cooperation which bears fruit in the success of shared activities.

  • Deepened Commitment. Our recent experience should serve to spur each and everyone to accept the challenge to move on to a deeper commitment to serve God in our brothers and sisters, with preferential attention to the poor and underprivileged, God's "little ones".

  • Timely and Positive Action. A deeper commitment should be translated into timely and positive action by lay leaders, especially. They should look forward to the formulation of meaningful programs for the Parish to help the community attain its goal of transforming itself into an integrated Family of Disciples of the Sacred Heart journeying together to His Heavenly Kingdom.

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus have mercy on us!
